over a seven week period a company monitored the output of two of its branches c and d .each week the company calculated how many units were produced in each branch .the branch that produced the greatest number of units for 4 or more of the seven weeks was considered to be more efficient.which office was deemed more efficient?
1)over the seven week period branch c produced twice as many units as branch d.
2)the branch that was more effiucient was known by the fifth week.

what i need to know is that what exactly does the term 'over the seven week period ' mean?i believe it has mislead me.i think it means that over the entire seven week period branch c produced twice as many units as branch d .however the book says that statement 1 doesnt tell us when the units were produced.perhaps the book says ,the units were produced in the last week.
this is kinda confusing.
i have no problem understanding statement 2.

Statement 1 says
At the end of seven weeks, Plant C Units = 2 * Plant D Units

It may be possible that Plant C manufactured 5 times more than plant D in the first, second and third week...but Plant D may have manufactured
consistently better than C for the next Four weeks.

and the criteria for the decision is consistent weekly performance rather than overall performance...so we cant decide..Hence 1 is not sufficient

With statement 2, we cant say anything.

Combine it, we still do not know whether Plant C performed consistently better than D or was it just Good production in two/three weeks and really low production for the rest of the seven weeks..Hence its not sufficient too.

Hence E
