Booth 2012 - Calling All Applicants

I completely understand that it could be difficult to accept that I am from Booth. Forget about me. Lets talk about your wait list. I know a couple of my friends who got off the wait list. This is what you probably might consider doing. Talk to your interviewer now and see if u can get an extra letter of recommendation from him. Talk to the point of contact from student body for your country. As you are from India, there should be a country captain for India. Write to her and set up call with the country captain. Try and see if you can get any feedback on your application. Ask her to put you in touch with students/peers who got off the wait list. A kind 1st year did an application review for my friend who was on wait list. He cud identify key areas he missed out talking about in his app. This year the whole video thing is completely new and current students will not be able to guide you on that. But they can always help u identify what u missed. In case students don't have time to go through your application, tell them your story and key highlights of your application in 10 minutes. Contact as many alums as possible and have meaningful conversations. Express your passion about Booth in your letter (video) to admission committee. Do name drop the alums / students u talked to and what you learnt from them.

Most Important: Act now. Once Jan starts, 1st years get busy recruiting for internships and 2nd years get busy recruiting for jobs + helping 1st years. There would be Boothies who would have gone home to India over winter break. Set up meetings with them and try and see if you can get them to go thru your app and identify areas to strengthen ur app. Keep in touch with adcom but don't over communicate.

Best of Luck. At end of the day, it is also luck and for some ppl like me think that if we cud go back we wud exchange a ding for an admit.
