Okay, GMAT 2nd attempt and the score is 610 (Q:47 and V:28)
It was not at all what I had expected, since in all my prep exams (
MGMAT, GMAT Prep) I was getting between 660 - 680 and highest score I got in GMAT Prep – 2 (2 days before actual test) was 690. Looking at the time I had with me to prepare for exam, I did not even think of crossing 700. I was happy to settle for 650-670 range, but the day was not for me.
First 3 sections (Essay, IR and Quant) went off well (as they did in mock test) and just before verbal I had a break of 8 minutes. I went outside to munch onto my energy bar. After 7 minutes of break, I tried to enter to exam room and placed my palm on machine for verification, error “No match”. The center supervisor asked me to place my right and also left palm many times on machine but the machine was unable to detect the impression. Great, I lost 2 minutes in this. By the time I was able to see the screen 1 minute 27 seconds of verbal section were gone. First SC popped up and I could not concentrate. I could see just black and white screen and guess lost my concentration there. By the time I clicked ‘NEXT’ for 2nd question, the timer showed me “70:49 minutes left”… I closed my eyes for few seconds and tried to concentrate. For initial 20 Ques the section went well, I even got couple of boldface CR questions within first 25 Ques (which is a good sign as per few forums) but when I reached to 25th Que, I looked at timer to see that I had only 20 minutes left and the PANIC started. I could not concentrate, I had 2 RC passages and to save time for CR and SCs I randomly selected answer choices. Finally last 6 Ques, I had around 8 minutes but guess that was not enough
I think, the day was not for me. The score I was aiming for is really not very difficult to get but the timing in Verbal killed my score. I really do not know if I should retake the exam. My friends ask me to retake the exam but I feel so exhausted and heart broken. The confidence level is completely down.
