Hi Friends,
I am planning to sit for GMAT on 12th August and have started the slog overs. My progress has been as below;
Gmat Prep 1 old version: Nov 2011: 39Q 34V 610
Gmat Prep 2 old version: Dec 2011: 44Q and 39V 680
MGMAT: Nov 2011: Average 42Q and 35V 600
Actual GMAT: Dec 2011: 39Q and 38V 640 (Low because I made the mistake of not visiting the test center prior to test and thus increased anxiety and difficulty in locating the center.
After a gap of 3 months, I started preparing again with specific focus on improving my quant score and seen some encouraging results coming in practice tests.
Untimed onesMGMAT average Quant 46 to 47 and verbal at 34-35 and total score at around 680. Highest being 690.
Timed onesGMAT Prep 1: 31.7.2012: 47Q with 16 wrong and 35 V with 11 wrong. Total score 670
GMAT Prep 1 after resetting the question pool: 2.8.2012: 43Q with 11 wrong and 42V with 8 wrong Total 700. Not many repeat questions luckily.
I am little perturbed because of sudden drop in the score of today's quant in gmat prep test. I have been constantly scoring 46+ in practice tests. Drop is further magnified when one realizes that the number of incorrect questions have actually gone down from 16 to 11 in Quant and from 11 to 8 in verbal. Verbal certainly shows improvement in scaled scores from 35 to 42 but quant has gone down from 47 to 43. One reason which I could make out was the frequent wrong answers to easier questions, which didn't allow the algorithm to test my higher quant skills. However, I am not sure of my interpretation.
Need help of experts to understand how to maintain consistency at 47 or may be increase it to 48 in quant. I can manage verbal on my own.
I have done all signatures of bunuel, have gone through plenty of blog posts of Karishma, taken help of
MGMAT 5 strategy books and also gone through almost all questions here classified under 600-700 and 700+ category. I have taken note of all the questions where I faced problem during preparation and compiled all of them under different topic wise documents, which I intend to go through during next 8 days as one day before 12th, I intend to stop studying.
Anxiety levels aren't alarming. Mentally at piece.
