Appeared gmat on 10th sept - got a770!

I owe a thanks to gmat club and forum post members - the debriefs were a great help to me. I am not writing a long debrief here , but would be happy to answer any specific queries regarding my prep

I appeared for my exams on 10 - Sep. Here are my scores - GMAT: 770 (V - 44, Q - 50), AWA - 6

Just a background - I am applying to B schools for their PhD programs next fall. I have around 9 years of work ex (post my MBA).

When I started my preparation for gmat about 4 months back, I was not very confident of getting such a high score. Life away from academics for so long kind of slows you down mentally. Suddenly, even the most basic of mathematics problems look daunting!. That was my case in May, but I'm glad that I could overcome this confidence problem.

Prep:
The very first thing I did was to get hold of Manhattan strategy guides. These books helped brush up my fundamentals. The sentence correction guide is a gem - I recommend going through it at least twice before you appear for your exams. I used the OG along side the strategy guides. I didn't take me long to finish one round of revisions of fundamentals. (completed in about 2 months). I made it a point to study every day, even if it was for only 30 mins a day. I subscribed to GMAT Club question of the day, and almost religiously answered these questions every single day. Towards the end of my prep, one of my friends sent me few additional practice questions he had collected. I did about 5 prep tests - two from gmat prep, 3 from mgmat. I was getting a bit worried since my test scores were averaging around the 710-720 mark. Thats why, getting 770 on the actual test was a pleasant surprise!
