What I meant by the IR score was that it's importance will be more clear in the School's eyes. It may be similar to AWA where it does not matter a whole lot unless it is bad. A 50th percentile on AWA was 5, out of 6 and most folks got in with 5's and 4's. IR is similar I feel but it also may prove that it has a higher correlation to future success than the GMAT score and it is absolutely critical to get a high IR score.

Your best shot is to sleep on it for a few years. You can also retake the GMAT now if you feel you can improve the IR (there are resources out there already) but chances of it being high on the list are NOT that impressive, based on the AWA example. It is a lottery/insurance thing - you don't know the odds.

If you are very conservative, you should retake and feel good about it (assuming you can get IR up). Your cost is $250
If you are more risky, then wait and see. Your cost is $250+time to study/catch up/etc - higher than in the first case but then you may not have to do it at all.

It depends on you.
Good Luck!
