I am mainly interested in top 10 US schools as well as UCLA.
My stats are as follows:
Undergrad: top 50 state school, bs accounting, gpa 3.6
Study abroad: Elite private university in Japan, gpa 3.9
GMAT: 1st attempt 660 (47Q, 35V), 2nd attempt 660 (49 Q, 32 V)
Work Experience: Top BB - 2.5 yrs leadership rotation program in Asia (one chosen out of 3000 competitive applicants amidst financial crisis); Another mid tier BB - currently 9 months in the finance division (Japan) where I am given more responsibility and deal more with strategic projects
Extracurriculars: Volunteer/fund raising at Rehabilitation hospital (raised close to 90Kusd for the facility, leader of top-BB's leadership development program (chosen as I had top rank in my analyst class)
Certifications: CPA (top scores), CFA Level II candidate
Extra: Father has passed away during high school, and mother suffered a serious stroke during my junior yr in college (currently handicapped on the entire left side of the body)
I know that my gmat may hurt me for top 10, but do you think my application will be competitive at UCLA? Also, any other schools you recommend me apply to? I have interests in corporate development, asset management, banking.
I also have an offer for LSE's Msc accounting and finance, do you guys think that may be better if i do not get into a top 15 MBA? Please consider new Visa rules making it much harder (close to impossible) for foreigners to find work in London.
Hi lionheart187 ,
You seem to have a good profile , one thing for sure I can tell u that unless u apply you are not going to be admitted. So save yourself from the headache of Adcoms work and apply to UCLA if you feel you have done enough research about the school and your Post MBA goals would be aligned to what UCLA can provide. All the best
