I have several questions with this sentence.The meaning lead us to the use of "and" to connect two sentence "A delegation...." and "the chef minister..";however,shouldn't a comma be placed before this "and"?

Also,the correct option(D) presents "called on the minister" and "pleaded for" in parallel.IMO,this two action shouldn't be parallel since the latter should be the purpose of this visit.To connect these actions with "and" creates the sense of two separate actions.Any thoughts?

I do not see a problem with A - "so as to" is alright.

The construction is correct. Two verbs can be made parallel using a conjunction. ( I read and write...correct - similarly, A delegation called on and pleaded.. grammatically correct)

"Its" (referring to delegation) is better than "their" (referring to farmers).

Hi, I dont see usage of ITS anywhere. The only difference between option A and correct option D is called so as to plead and CALLED and pleaded. I think option A is better. They called to plead.

If there is a COMMA before and in D, I will choose D. But two ANDs don't seem right :/

Hi can you help why A is wrong over D? I understand that " so as to " is another (more formal way) form of infinitive of purpose, but when you say "Its" (referring to delegation) is better than "their" (referring to farmers), how does this help us figure out that option D is better?

Can you please confirm whether the usage of so as to is correct in choice A.
No clear decision has been made out of the discussions so far. I have checked with Aristotle and according to them the usage of so as to is incorrect here because so as to can never replace in order to in a sentence.
