Re: More than 17 percent of world wine is produced in Italy, [#permalink]
A & B convey the meaning that wine produced in Italy accounts for 14% of wine in Spain.
D seems to talk about the rate of wine production in Spain which to me does not make any sense.
E incorrectly compares Italy to wine production.

C is the right answer.

Kudos Please... If my post helped.

Pls post OA and OE
also can anyone give a concrete reason to eliminate E.

you are totally right, as all of those who chose answer C

in E - ''it'' has no clear referent.

I was discouraged on C by 'world figures' why do we need it to be plural?

Cheers!

(A) while in Spain it is a little over 14 percent
(B) compared to Spain, where it is a little over 14 percent
(C) whereas in Spain wine production accounts for a little over 14% of world figures
(D) and in Spain wine production is a little over 14 percent
(E) compared with the wine production in Spain, where it is a little over 14 percent.

pls, give a kudos if you find my explanation good

A
"it" must grammatically refer to "more than ...wine" because "It" pronoun like "they" refers to the same thing while "that, those" refers to different thing. this reference of "it" is not logic
B
"it" has similar problem as in A. "compared to" has only "italy" noun which is eligible but comparion is not logic
D
"wine production" can not be "over 14 percent". no sense
E
"it" has problem as in A
"compared..." has no logic noun refered.

all the choice appear grammartical but they contain illogic meaning. this is the focus of sc.

Hello Bunuel, bb

What is the OA of this Question. If there is no OA, does it make sense to keep question in question bank ?

Thanks,
