I am currently studying MBA in finance and my BBA CGPA is 3.70. Do I need to retake the GMAT for Phd ? I've got 47 in quants and 37 in verbal.

Well, it depends on lots of things
1. When do you want to apply?
2. Where do you want to apply?
3. Have you been testing higher?
4. What are your goals?


Plus if you write us a bit about your profile, this may be easier to answer...

Thanks for your reply...
I have been testing a bit higher specially in quant...hovering around 700-710..... I think 700 is another level than 690...I am going to apply now so that I can get into some program after completion of my MBA..And I am not sure where can I go :( I will try to take the best out of whatever I can.Although I have a paper published in a journal.....will it be helpful?

Publishing a paper is definitely good for a PhD. So are other things like academic awards, scholarships, being invited to conferences, etc. Anything that makes you stand out academically.

Now, if you are interesting in PhD programs in business, actually many do not require that you have the GMAT, so since you have been testing about the range at what you have actually got, I would say leave that alone. Your time would be better spent on publishing papers, getting involved academically, gaining teaching experience, going to conferences, etc.... all the things that PhD programs really look for.

Can you suggest some universities in which I will have fair chances to get into the PhD program? you may suggest the range of ranking of the universities...

Did you consider taking an online course with a score improvement or full refund guarantee? by doing so you have no financial risk and still can improve your score.
