Does it make any sense to reapply for Fall now without any substantial changes to my application? I feel that my interview would go much, much better next time, but I have heard that sometimes re-applicants are told that the previous interview feedback will be used again for their new application.
You can't actually apply right now. Unless you mean for Fall 2014 entry. I don't remember exactly where but the school says that if you are dinged for J-Term you cannot re-apply in that same application cycle for Fall entry. Why would you want to? You already know that your profile is missing something the school wants, how much are you going to change in 3 months? You even said yourself you won't have substantial changes so if you got dinged before you would just get dinged again. Focus on some other schools for Rd 2 or 3. If you have your heart set on Columbia then look at your profile, figure out what you are missing and then spend the next year working on it. As a re-applicant you won't be a disadvantage for the Fall 2014 entry class.
