Congratulation to your improved scores and thanks for your great sharing info... I came to this page a day before the test on 2-FEB.

My story is exactly alike, but the correlation between practice tests and the real GMAT is inversed.
Just a week before the test I got:
GMATPrep1 : 620 (Q:50 , V:24)
GMATPrep2 : 660 (Q:49 , V:31)
Manhattan CAT online : 660 (Q:47 , V33)

The real my 5th GMAT : 570 (Q:45 , V:24)
(Before this I had got from 500-510)

Eventhough the score disappointed me, I'm pleased to share it because I'd like to thanks this forum by sharing what the test takers should avoid.

I confirm that what Prathns said is definitely correct.
I studied so hard before the test day and also tried to gather up all my major mistakes an hour before the real GMAT.
I got extremly scared before and during the test, blowing away at least 5 minutes in the verbal part.
All of them were crazily annoying me.

I wish you guys get very best luck.

Thanks for the feedback. Took the first time with almost no prep and got an EMBARRASSING 460. Need to improve. Your info is very much helpful.

Cheers.

How did you achieve improvement in quant score from Q38 to Q46?
How much should we focus on topics such as probabilty.
Also what should be referred to practice of quants.

Hey!!!
- Focus mainly on number properties/ratio-mixtures/percentage/geometry/surds & indices. Give very less important to prob & stat. Very less Ques appear on those. I got 1 Prob DS Question & 1 Combination.
- Focus on DS questions too. They are the key to improve ur Q score.

Hey guys, I want to say few words about my story. I took GMAT and scored 470 Quantitative 25, Verbal 25. Then after one month i retook it again and scored 420 :((( Quantitative 38 but verbal 9..... I am going to take GMAT one more time and i have 2 months to prepare for that. My target score is no less than 570 ; >570 . please give me any advice or suggestion how to beat GMAT and increase my score from 420 to =>570 or more. recently, i have used Kaplan's new GMAT PREMIER 2013 book to study.

Hi Mahmood,

The original post is from over 6 years ago and it's been almost 4 years since the original poster visited this site, so it's not likely that you'll receive a response from him/her. There are plenty of people here who can answer your questions though and offer advice though. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi I gave my first GMAT on 29th October 2016 after 1.5 months of preparation and scored 570 Q39 V30. I just used OG17 for the preparation and no other material. I don't remember the score of each CAT of that time, but I was scoring in 600 range.

I am aiming for 680 and above, nothing below this. I am planning to take GMAT in first or second wk of December. One school has deadline of 15 Jan 2017, where I am really keen to apply, Schulic Business School, Toronto.

I have started my preparation again from 7-8 November:
OG17 Diagnostic - 530
GMAT Power Prep I - 480
MCAT I- 580 splitup Q37 V32

Kindly suggest, what should I do? I really need to improve score in a month. I know I can do that, and I know my weaknesses. Like in quant I loose more marks on DS and 99% problem solving questions are wrong because of silly mistakes. In verbal my weakness is SC, and CR is strong, but somehow during mock or real test I mess up more in CR than SC, so I think I need attention on both part. In RC I rarely make mistakes, but when I do, question is about main idea. I am little reluctant in investing too much on study materials. I have OG17, Manhattan SC guide.

Kindly, help me out.
