Choice E looks like this:
E. Because there are often so many images per MRI,
on which a radiologist could spend an entire day looking at just one of these studies, my strategy,
which is like
other radiologists who specialize in magnetic resonance imaging,
is to analyze first the "data-rich sequences," those segments that can provide the most information.

When u strip the sentence, it looks like this:

Because there are often so many images per MRI, my strategy, which is like other radiologists, is to analyze first...
E is saying "my strategy" is like "other radiologists""; apples and oranges compared.

Like should be followed by a noun and not a phrase. As should be followed by a phrase and not a noun. Using this logic can someone explain why C is correct.

Like can definitely be followed by a noun phrase Vinay.

I am wondering if you mean to say: Like cannot be followed by a clause.

p.s. Our book EducationAisle Sentence Correction Nirvana discusses Like vs As, its application and examples in significant detail. If you or someone is interested, PM me your email-id; I can mail the corresponding section.

Hello VinayRana,

We hope this finds you well.

To answer your query, you seem to have confused noun phrases with clauses; "like" can absolutely be used to compare noun phrases and pronoun phrases, such as "that of other radiologists" in this sentence.

The key difference between a noun/pronoun phrase and a clause is that noun and pronoun phrases contain no active verbs.

We hope this helps.
All the best!
