Hi,
Yes, the business schools will know how to intepret your grades, esp w you coming from IIT. If you want to make sure, on your resume, next to university info - add that you finished in the uppermost quarter.
Are you applying to any other school?
You'll have to make sure you can differentiate yourself with leadership capabilities and strong career vision and passion in the essays.
Good luck!

Since I want to apply to H S W, I am concerned whether GPA will shoot me down at these schools.
UG gpa (IIT, india) : 7.95/10.0
While bschools are known to understand how to interpret international/iit gpa and gpa is not the only factor, it is not known how good they think such a gpa is.
This gpa was in the uppermost quarter of the class and the iits grade on a tough curve.
This gpa good enough?
