This is all very speculative: a) i hardly think gmatclub stats are representative of the total applicant pool b) many schools also interview up until the last week c) last year people were also invited to interview days before the decision. What makes you think something is going on in this cycle?

I think the problem is that many applied to cornell as their "safety" school and it turned out to be more competitive or they didnt work as hard as in other schools apps.

If anyone has official/reliable info stating the admissions process is indeed behind schedule i would surely like to see it. Send me a PM f you do and dont want to post it here.

Gmatclub is filled with people who are 'over achievers' looking to gain as much info about the admit process which is why the admit stats here are always higher than the general applicant pool. So if anything we should probably see more invites here.

Johnson was my #1 school, I worked extra hard on that app, even visited them and had a meeting with ad-comm. Also got a recommendation from an alum.

I do hope you get into Johnson and we all can have a Cazcadilla together!

Gmatclub is hardly an indicator, I bet most people add a few points to their GMAT score, plus you have a lot of IT Indians with high scores, also some people dont bother to update their status and when they are not admitted to a school they delete it, so the next year some dinged students dont show up in the stats. I see the same happening in other schools

Still, my main point stands, I still need to see reliable info addressing a possible delay. i visited Johnson and none of the adcom members mentioned a delay, the school is known to interview up until the last moment. This is business as usual. The admissions office closed on time the day I spent there, had they been behind schedule I bet they would all had stayed working til late.

Some people are saying adcom screwed up and left people out, where are they getting this info from? the only official data released has been an increase in apps of 30% - which I am sure can be handled by the adcom.

Invites are still rolling out, i wish everyone good luck!!

The only official word I've seen on a delay is that some students were told that if they schedule their interview for the 17th-19th, they may not hear a decision until the 21st. Online in general, on the 2 main MBA forums (gmatclub, and beatthegmat) invites seem to be a bit sparce. We have no real info on what is going on behind the scenes, and it is very possible that cornell is just a bit tougher to get into then some people thought. Also, there was a major change in the way reviewing apps is done at cornell, so it's possible their process flow is just different, making comparisons to earlier years a bit useless.

Who knows? Even if they end up waitlisting a bunch of us without interview, we can't be sure this wasn't their original plan... all in all, we all need to sit back and chill...

People mentioned that app volume is up this year at Cornell. I read a post here that many consultants have seen client numbers fall, indicating most other schools will see a drop in volume. Does any one know if other schools are in fact experiencing an increase/decrease thus far?

There have been a few (unofficial) reports from different adcoms, and we should expect an increase in EA, ED, R1 apps this year. GMAC reported a large spike in GMATers in the months leading up to the test updates... meaning, more applicants were finished with the GMAT earlier, and had ample time to focus on applying in the first round.

We can't assume a decrease in business for consultants = a decrease in apps for B-school, there are many other factors that come into play (mainly, the continued increase of consulting companies in an already saturated market).

We wont know until the application season is over, and schools release their data... plus, who really cares? You have no control over who else applies, nor will you know if the number of applicants will effect the adcoms decision on your app.

it is interesting to see some discussion about if the adcom read this forum and try to figure out who is who.

it is almost the end of another day, no invitation for me :(

any lucky ones out there?

I'm a round 2 applicant and am just curious, did most people apply for the Park Fellowship in their applications? I would assume most people would given that it is a chance for a full ride, but never know what an extra essay can do to people who are busy with several apps.

I would also guess most people applied for it as well. I also applied although admittedly I am not Cornell's strongest candidate, I do not walk on water. But it never hurts to try, everyone should.

I applied for it as well. When I visited adcom said that they thought a lot of people self-selected out of the application because they thought they weren't strong enough candidates for it. I don't think it's all numbers, either, based on a conversation I had with a current fellow. It didn't take me that much longer to write the essay, since I was already writing several others - I just considered it a part of the application.

I didn't do the essay. Was already short on time and pretty much over writing essays. I also figured I really didn't have much of a chance. So I guess you could put me in the self-selected out group. Just figured, I don't have the stats and although I have good community extracurriculars, I imagine other applicants have way more compelling stories. But a full ride, man would that be nice!

i know it is pointless to figure out how do they send out invitations, but i just can't help thinking about it.

we started seeing a batch of invitations sent out on last thursday, and then we saw some more monday and today. there was a bunch of people reported that they received it at the exact same time on thursday 4:29pm. and then we saw some invitations monday morning, and this morning.

i am guess that they are sending out a bunch at the same time, and give it a couple days for the applicants to call and schedule the interviews. and two days later, they send out another bunch.

assuming my theory was correct, if you (and I) did not receive the ones that were sent this morning, you need to wait two more days...

hopefully my theory was wrong and we will see some more this afternoon...
