Hello Everyone,
I have had some of my own troubles with the GMAT and I would like your help.
I got a 590 (q:44, v:27) when I took the GMAT in August 2012.
After the test, I knew that it was SC and CR problems that were my weaknesses. So I started to use the
Manhattan GMAT for Critical Reasoning and the
Manhattan GMAT for Sentence Correction for practice questions.
I alternated between 10 problems of SC and 10 problems of CR every day until I got comfortable with the questions and started to get more of them right. I used this website for SC problems where I could find 1000 SC problems from actual GMAT and I googled various different websites for CR problems.
After I got more comfortable with the SC questions and CR questions I started to take practice tests in the Mcgraw Hill 2009 edition.
Here are my scores on those tests along with the dates:
Oct 21, 2012, score: 640
Oct 28,2012, score: 680
Nov 4, 2012, score: 680
Nov 11,2012, score: 680
Nov 18, 2012, score:640
Dec 18,2012, score:680
For the last couple of days I used the GMAT prep software to get a better feel for the real GMAT test.
Dec 21,2012, score: 650 (v:30, q:45)
Dec 23,2012, score: 700 (v:35, q:49)
I took the GMAT on Dec 26, 2012 and my score was 600 (q:47, v:27)
It seems that over the past couple of months, whatever studying I did do, was not helpful.
Although the scores on the practice tests were much higher than what I got on the GMAT, I am still confused on what I am missing.
It seems that the verbal score did not improve although the practice tests scores were better, do you have any ideas/ suggestions?
