McCombs (UT Austin) 2013 Calling All Applicants

Have any of you admitted gotten info on this year's events? Specifically, wondering when admit weekend is this year. Thanks

I emailed the adcom about the updated score. I would recommend you do the same.
In the return email, they clearly mentioned that there is no guarantee this updated score will be considered.
They are pretty good at replying to the general admissions email address (maybe a slight delay due to large backlog during holidays)

I received the welcome package yesterday in Chicago. Granted -- there is only a letter and a "welcome gift" however its nice to receive some sort of communication from the office. I wish that the admissions office had some sort of packet put together that outlines all the costs of the programs, loan details etc...

An AdCom member wrote on the class of 2015 Facebook page, "One item I'd like to address is the distinction between Texas Friday (Feb. 8th) and Preview Weekend (April 5th & 6th).

Texas Friday: This day is just for Round 1 admitted students. It is a special day devoted to meeting you and offering you a glimpse into our program. We encourage all 1st round candidates to attend, especially if you have yet to decided whether or not to attend McCombs. This day will be especially useful for the undecided to help them clarify their choice before the Feb. 14th decision deadline.

Preview Weekend: As your decision deadline will have already passed, plan to attend this day only if you are already certain you will be attending McCombs. If so, then as Jazmin mentioned, this multi-day event is a bit more in depth and comprehensive then the one-day Texas Friday. A lot of the content will be the same, though this event offers a special dual track for spouses/significant others of prospective students (involving tours and info events led by current spouses/significant others in the Spouses and Significant Others student organization). This event also offers more out-on-the-town excursions into our great city.

So choose which one best fits you, and we hope to see you at either!"

What I think you're looking for was handed out as a printout when I attended a local info session in November, but I haven't seen it online anywhere. Maybe just give the admissions office a call and they can email a copy over to you

I would. You have a strong profile, which might make the adcom a little suspicious of the seriousness of your McCombs application (Do you really want to be here? Is this your first choice? etc.) if you haven't had a lot of contact with the school prior to your application. I think showing up to the school shows commitment IMO.

Booked the flight and the interview for on campus. Thanks for thinking I have a strong profile, but McCombs is the only interview invite I've received yet. The waiting is seriously killing me...

I too interviewed last week. Its difficult to be certain but I guess it went well. Being from India, staying up late in the night to interview was a killer. Hopefully should hear some good news in about a month. How was everyone else's interview exp?

I submitted my application on 12/3, but I haven't received an invitation to interview. Does that mean waitlist? I am guessing that all invites have probably been sent out by now. 2/15 is the notification date, so it doesn't seem likely that interview invites would be sent out much later than now. Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed, but if I don't hear about an interview in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to send my deposit to my #2 school.

Unfortunately, you're going to get the standard response that they send out interview invites up until a week before decision week. However, i know it took more than a month after the R1 deadline for Aimhigh2012 to get his invite, and he ended up getting admitted. Also, consider that the winter break will likely have delayed invites.
