Small mistake on essay- to contact admissions?

After reviewing the PDF's for all of my essays I noticed a mistake that made me want to bang my head on my desk. :x :shock: One of the schools has a research center I am very interested in--not just for essay purposes- I truly find it appealing--and wrote about it in one of my essays. I noticed I used the word "Consumer" in its name, as opposed to "Customer." It probably slipped my mind from mentioning consumer so many other places in the document and obviously my proof-readers did not catch it.

Is this something that warrants contacting the admissions office? I know I can't change the application, but am afraid my interest will seem insincere with the mix up.

No do not contact admissions office. Not like they would go into your application and change it anyways. They also may not even notice it, so don't bring attention to it. If the rest of your application is stellar, you shouldn't be dinged for writing "consumer" instead of "customer".

If this small typo is the worst mistake on your app consider yourself lucky...

Thank you both for the assurance. I think we all get a little paranoid when we are in the purgatory between submitting and getting an invite/ding!

Let it ride. I had some small errors ("Manger" vice "Manager") in my Johnson app and I still got in.

Do not bring it to the attention of admissions. Given the volume of essays that most admissions officers have, chances are they will not even notice the typo. Relax and do not bang your head on your desk anymore. Last year, I worked with a client who said he wanted to attend Darden in his Kellogg essays - and he was admitted to Kellogg.

Man, I sympathize with you. I just noticed a typo in my first essay for my top choice school. I repeated the same word twice.

It's the only typo on my application, and I'm trying to move on since the general consensus seems to be that 1-3 typos is not a big deal. But it's killing me.

Wow that's pretty amazing. He still got in with the maybe the worst typo of all. It goes to show you not to read your essays after hitting the submit button. It will only bring frustration as you realize you can't do anything to fix the typos.
