As a R2 applicant, it's encouraging to see so many people getting in. Congratulations everyone! Couldn't ask for a better start to the new year myself.

Has anyone heard through the grapevine whether accepting an offer of admission prior to receiving merit scholarship information has any bearing on if / how much one will receive $$$? For ex., someone accepts and the admissions office sees this and doles out less merit $$$ knowing the person is planning to attend anyway.

Funny how you see the same names on all the different threads! krudget, how are your results syncing up with your wife's? She's doing nursing, right?

Yup, people seem to be hunting the same tiers of schools. Fun to run into the same people on the interview trail, as well, and compare notes.

Fiancée, not wifey, yet. When things get settled where we are heading, we may set a date. :P And she's completing her MD, so not a nurse, she gets that way too much and it more than a little irks her. She is matching anesthesiology.

Yeah, the couples process is in an enormous pain. The only place that she got an interview where I had one was at UPMC in Pittsburgh which is an incredible program. Also Cleveland Clinic and Case University system, which aren't too far from Tepper. And she is waitlisted at UNC, whose department is in a bit of turmoil and has a terrible intern year. Other than that, none of our offers have synced, which is really rough. And with residency, you make a rank list, each program makes a rank list, and the an algorithm 'matches' you. And in the middle of March is Match Day where you figure out where you're going to spend the next 3-7 years. So leaves me having to write cheques in February with no clue.

Also complicating things, she loved Houston and Galveston. So now I'm contemplating Rice. Don't know if I can stomach another app with large offers to 'better' programs. Affiliation and proximity with MD Anderson is tempting...

But we've told each other to take the best offer we can get, independently. With her 100-hour a week intern schedule and my MBA-1 quant-heavy schedule, we may not see much of each other in the same city anyway. Really hope it works out for the same city, though.

Yikes! Sounds like a serious PITA, krudget! Well, best of luck to you and your soon-to-be MD fiancée.

Edit: The PITA is the process, not your significant other! :)

I know many Admissions Fellows are making calls tomorrow and Friday. Several people were out of town, or the country, for winter break. They are excited about congratulating everybody!

Got it, thanks for the info. It did seem strange that "Team Fuqua" was the one school that I applied to yet people find out about acceptances online rather than by phone.

Do you know if they will have scholarship info then or if we really have to wait the two weeks that they mentioned in the letter.

Congrats to everyone who got in and good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

I thought this was strange too. I completely understand (and appreciate) doing a mass status update, but I also figured Fuqua adcom would then call HBS-style to welcome everyone to Team Fuqua.

From what I've seen in past years, if you get a phone call from an adcom member, then you have a scholarship. Other than that, your interviewer and Fuqua Buddy are just calling to congratulate you.

To all my fellow Fuqua R1 accepted students - do we need to submit either of the forms received in the admission's email before the 27th? Assuming one is still undecided about Fuqua?

Thanks. I think it has to be suggested to the school that a google+ group be opened too. The privacy of facebook groups suck. why should my friends be able to see which groups I have joined? I just dont see the logic behind such a setting. Thanks to this feature some of us would not be able to joint the group since we dont want everybody to know about this venture yet.

Denied, unfortunately. Can anyone please tell me whether the decision is for both MBA and MEM? I had applied for the dual degree and thus I wish to know.
