Quick qusn guys-

Is the essay 3 strictly personal or can we have 1 slide with 2 work stories, highlighting two of my characteristics?

Please reply.

Please let us know too if you hear back. Submitted 9/11 but no news here too. I am pretty sure there is a decision coming out in the next couple of days. Has anybody been dinged, thus far, without an interview?

Just got interview invite for R1 - I was starting to worry. Sent in application Nov. 26, got email confirmation 12/7, interview invite 1/15.

710 GMAT (very lopsided in favor of verbal). 3.4 GPA Econ Major (liberal arts).

3 years big 4 consulting, recent change to corp strategy at a healthcare software company. Army reservist (but not a vet)

Congratulations...Did you get an invitation a few minutes back or in the afternoon? Just wondering if the Adcom is working on the applications even after 6 pm.

Guys, I've submitted on 1/15 for R2. I saw people got interview invites weeks after their submission. Does that mean Stern is adopting the same rolling basis practice as CBS, which means the earlier your submission is the earlier your package will be reviewed? Appreciate any input.

My two cents would be to focus on the aspect of introducing yourself to your future classmates, not the adcoms. What would you like to know about your own fellow classmates? Will you want to sit next to them in class once you have read their essay 3? It is an open question, so professional stories are absolutely fine, as long as it highlights your personal characteristics.
I wrote an essay ... the boring option :-).. mentioning my interests outside of work.

I went to an information session and one of the students mentioned that Stern does operate on a rolling-like basis, i.e. the earlier you submit, the earlier they will review your application. They also mentioned that the deadline is really there to guarantee to the applicant a reply-by date, e.g. submitting by Jan 15 means that you must hear some kind of response from Stern by Apr 1. Hope that helps!

Came in around 5pm. I hear that the admit rate for interviewed candidates is >50%; does that hold true this late in the cycle?

The way mine was structured, I was sort of doing a timeline through my life and giving stories about aspects of my life that shaped who I am. So I did have one part about work. However, it was more focused on how my work shaped my goals and how my personality came out at work rather than accomplishments so to say. But the rest of my essay was very personal and focused on my life outside of work.

I would refute this notion as I submitted for round 1 on the last possible day with the Sandy grace period. My timeline was as follows

Submitted Nov. 25
Under review Dec. 6
Interview invite Dec. 22
Interview Jan. 16

I am expecting to hear back in the next few days/within 2 weeks, so I do not think the "rolling" theory actually is true, given my timeline

NYU is rolling in the sense that the earlier you submit, the earlier your app will go under review. However, that does not mean you will receive a result earlier than someone else who submitted after you -- adcom can keep your file under review until the final decision release while they make final result decisions on other applicants.

I'm from Singapore, submitted on 15 Nov. Got a ding last week on 11 Jan without an interview. Quite disappointed since I thought Stern got my best essays, but there ya go.

Congratulations to all the admits!
