Vanderbilt (Owen) 2013 - Calling All Applicants

Dear Round 2 applicants like me, heard anything yet from the Owen people? The waiting, killing me. My file was complete way before the R2 deadline of Jan 9th.

I was in Early Action but I heard back from them 13 days after I submitted my application.

I received an invite today, but I have already interviewed.

I'm applying for the MAcc, not an MBA.

For the 2nd essay question (what can I add to the Owen community as student/alum?), can someone offer advice here? I have no idea what to say?

Also, are you at a serious disadvantage if you apply during the 4th admission round?

I submitted mine before the deadline as well and have not heard anything yet. I'm guessing they received a few more applications this round and it's taking them a bit longer to process. Best of luck.

Does anyone know if theres a FB group for the class of 2015?

I saw some movement on my page, the app status & decision page. There was some statement...'status of your application u can see it here etc'...the statement is gone. Instead, that portion is now just blank. I guess the adcom looked at my file, readying to say something tomorrow friday?

I have a good profile. Still waiting. I haven't heard anything. I guess they are taking their time to send out the interview invites or something.

I interviewed back in the Fall with an admissions rep before one of those MBA fair events. I since submitted my application on Jan 8th, but haven't heard anything. They have everything they need at this point so it's a little frustrating to not have heard.

I was admitted to my backup program and that whole process went EXTREMELY fast. I know every school does it differently, but it definitely made me antsy. I'm hoping that after Discover Weekend they'll get the ball rolling and send out some acceptance letters.

I have been with IT consulting in risk managament for 6 years but would like to do operations/strategy at owens
Is this advisable? would I have a tough time finding a job post graduation?

Thanks for considering applying to Owen! Regarding your question, I would say that as long as you have a good story of why you want to make the transition into operations and how your past experience and skills in risk management relate to that, there shouldn't be major difficulties on finding and internship/job. I mention this, because any company that interviews you will like to see how your previous professional knowledge fits with the position that they might offer to you. Also, you will have the opportunity to take some Ops electives before the internship time and may use that as support. On your 2nd year, you will also have the chance to take a Consulting Operations elective that includes a project with a real client, which you can discuss about in a job interview as part of your experience.
Companies such as Amazon, Kimberly Clark, FedEx and Nissan come every year with operations internship and full time offers. In addition to that, the staff at the Career Management Center will work with you on an individual basis since day 1 to help you achieve your career goals. Also, you can take advantage of the Operations Club's activities to network and know more about career options.

We share knowledge and resources for exploring careers in operations, provide case experience with real-world operations scenarios, work with faculty to expand operations-related offerings at Owen, facilitate networking opportunities and help students develop operations-specific career and interview skills.
