Would you recommend any book or general strategy for the preparation period? :)

Hey Guys!

As everyone else on this forum, I'm beginning my journey with GMAT by writing a first post. I am a finalist from the UK willing to continue the academic journey at one of the leading graduate business schools in the US.

I have just booked my session for the 1st of April at 11:00AM. It means I’ve got 48 days to prepare and hopefully achieve my goal of 700+ score.
My plan is to go through the main 8 MGMAT strategy guides, of course combined with the questions from the official guide and the additional quant and verbal books.

Is there anything else I should look at, provided if I’ve got some spare time? Would you recommend any particular online course to take?
Thanks for any help in advance! :)

Cheers,
Langus

Hi Langus,

1 month is definitely possible - as long as you stay focused with a dedicated plan. Before you start your hardcore studying - it's best to get a sense of how the test is layed out. So we recommend you take a GMATPrep test with the software: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-prep-about ... reasoning/

Start with books, but if you find yourself not progressing as you should, consider an online course. There are many things that cannot be shown on a book - but can be clear through video. So keep that in mind.

Also, if you run out of practice questions in OG, you can click any of the pills below for extra practice.

Hi Sam6708,

The other posts in this thread are over 8 years old - so you might not receive any responses from the people who posted those messages. There are lots of different sources for free practice materials (if you poke around GMATClub, you'll find lots of practice content).

It sounds like you're just starting out. Is that true? Have you done any studying so far?

If you're just beginning, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can access 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a bit of practice first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the general content and question types first, then that's fine - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should post back here (or you can feel free to PM me directly) and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
