Hey dj - Not sure yet. I'm still waiting to hear back from 2 other schools before making my decision. How about you? Have you decided?

Hey Brookstone, Yes I am matriculating with BC. Had a choice b/w Babson and BC.

Congrats! Sounds like you had some nice options. I'm sure it's nice to have made a decision.

Hey guys,
New to this site. Wish I had found it earlier! I am finishing up my app for Carroll. 3.3 undergrad, finance major 3.75 in major. 3 yrs experience as RIA. a little bummed with my gmat of 620. was scoring 650-680 on practice tests. Im wondering what my chances are at BC. It is my reach school I guess. I have great recommendations (Bentley adcom told me so!) I feel my essays are strong. What do you guys think? Is my gmat going to screw me over?

I guess if you are an American you should go for it! Your chances are weak if you are from India or China.

I don't think your GMAT score is a deal breaker. Your GPA and work experience are within their average metrics and if you have above average recs and essays, that's obviously a plus. I think they would at least offer you an interview. You should still apply.

Where did you do your undergrad? Are you from the boston area? I think BC has a bias towards people from the north east who went to schools they're familiar with.

Thanks for the response and support! Went to school in Rhode Island. I grew up outside Hartford CT but I live in NYC. I know BC is big on community involvement and close knit community feel so that's a theme in my essays and I said Boston more closely resembles the community I grew up in and school than NYC

Hi everyone! Has anyone else from the second round has received any admision notification yet?
I submitted my application on Jan 15th, got called for an interview on Jan 17th, traveled to Boston all the way from Peru on Feb 4th, but I havent received any notification after that ....
I know the decision deadline for second round is March 15 but I am starting to get nervous...

I applied for the second round and interviewed in January. I haven't heard anything yet, if that makes you feel less nervous :)

I think most 2nd round applicants have not heard back yet. Am I right?

Does being American matter that much? Can anyone comment on this?

yes it matters a lot.
Consider this :
you have 100 seats , As per the class profile 30% are foreigners. so you have 30 seats. All 30 are not for one country.Universities look for diversity. So they give roughly 4 to 6 seats for Indians similarly for Chinese. Now from these countries you typically have around 60 to 70 applications. So obviously you need to stand out. If you have a 620 which is a lower than avg gmat score of the school and you have 700s scorers from same country its logical they will prefer a person with 700s in Gmat. (All this keeping in mind that people have normal profiles)
I do agree that some times to add diversity to the class people from foreign counties are selected with lower GMAT but no way from India and China when they have so many people to choose from
So cherish your citizenship. It matters to be American.
Universities are willing to consider Americans with lower GMAT.

Thank you for te detailed response! I am aware of what you are saying I guess a better way to phrase my question would be does being American make up for the gap in my score and the average for the school? Of the average GMAT score is 680 for Carroll are you implying that the average for Americans is lower, say 650?

Agreed, 20 days is the fastest turn around that I have heard of at any program. Any other R2 applicants hear back?
