…so he fell asleep on the chair that they had given him. He dreamed of the interview, sitting on a lonely chair, answering questions from the panelists. He dreamed of their questions, strange MBA interview questions he answered without difficult. They asked him:
“Who is considered the greatest Marshall Arts actor of all time?”
“What is the deepest lake in the world?”
“You like comic books, right? Okay, who would win in a battle between Wolverine and Superman?”
Deep in his sleep, he heard his name being called. It seemed like a dream, but he became awake and heard it again.
“Are you Mr Nyama?” Half asleep, he stood up and extended his hand to the interviewer.
“Yes, it’s me. Sorry, I fell…,” but the interviewer cut him off.
“Come this way please,” and so Nyama followed the interviewer. “Would you care for some coffee?”
“Yes please, no milk and sugar,” Nyama said and sat down opposite the interviewer. He had imagined this interview a million times before.
“Okay, let’s start,” the interviewer said.
“Before we start, I have something to say,” Nyama said, raising his hand for emphasis. Half asleep, Nyama saw the interviewer nod his head. Encouraged, Nyama stood up, and said thus…..
“Ever since I was a kid, I have told myself that I would be a good student that Kellog would want. I dedicated my life to making sure that I did all that is expected of a Kelllog MBA student. I’m the right candidate, I will make Kellog proud,” Nyama said. Raising his fist in a show of determination, he continued in a high pitched voice, “I played varsity soccer as an UG, I have good GMAT scores, I went to Tuvalu as a climate change volunteer. I’m an all round scholar, and I’m the student that Kellog is…,”
“Stop,” the interviewer, annoyed, said. “So you really like Kellog, Mr Nyama?”
“I do, I love Kellog. It’s the best school in the whole world,” Nyama said.
“Ah, I see.”
“My uncle got his MBA here.”
“Uhm, interesting. But what are you doing here? This school is Ross. This interview is for the Ross MBA.”
“What, Ross,” the shocked Nyama gasps in disbelief.
“You should have gone to interview at Kellog,” the interviewer says. “This interview is over.”
The End.
