E is the choice because rest all have improper usage of than(comparison).
In E, 'more closely related to' goes parallel with 'than to'.

Just one single clue is enough to solve this in a rapid fire round. Any correct choice should maintain the prepositional //ism, i.e., --- more closely related to …… than to --,

Only E does that.

Parallelism: "DNA testing has shown that it is more closely related to X than to Y"
==> only E is correct.

A,B and C are incorrect - use of "due to"
D incorrect - "than" not followed by "to"

IMO E - correct use of "than to"

We need a sentence which can say - more closely related ===> than to
