Not a current student, but I looked heavily into both schools, so my two cents it's that it's all about where you want to be. The vibe I got from visiting McCombs, talking to students, and talking to others I know living/working in Texas, is that if you want to stay in Texas, and particularly if you want to work in finance in the energy sector, then a McCombs MBA is gold. I really didn't get the vibe that they have much a presence in the Northeast though, and Georgetown can probably get you into a NY i-bank more easily but put you at a disadvantage recruiting-wise if you want to come back to Texas right away. But if you think a couple years in NY will open all those doors in Texas and you're in no hurry to get back then you're probably fine either way. Again my opinion isn't gospel, just the vibes I got from two schools I researched heavily.

This article from Poets and Quants is kind of old (November of 2010) but brings up some interesting banking/finance employability rankings for Georgetown that puts them on par with the bigger name MBA programs. Below are some excerpts but the main point of the article is that location matters a lot for finance jobs at least.

georgetown ranked #25 in the new US News report. i think they were 24 last year, so looks like they dropped a spot.

Does anyone know if calls start going out early or only on decision date (Friday)?

I did my interview with the Director of Admissions (P/T) and he told me all notifications go out on the 15th, no exceptions.

Is the idea that admits get calls and dings/WLs get emails?

Is this how they have done it in the past? Seems like a lot of work to call hundreds of admitted students all in one day. I was hoping to get an email notification bc I won't be able to answer my phone during the day, but if what you say is true, maybe I don't want to check my email.

Just got the call- in!! :-D

No mention of any scholarship, but it looks like those who received funds in Round 1 this year had that info in the letter once it was posted online. It was a quick call- so I expect they are hoping to roll through a lot this morning. Best of luck to everyone else!
