A. that will be easily searchable starting late next year
B. that might be easily searched from starting later next year
C. that will be searched easily starting late next year
D. and such data will be easily searchable, starting late next year
E. and such data would be easily searchable starting late next year

And expert comments ?

Hi eski,

First this is not a GMAT question for sure because it contains two sentences. In GMAT you will get only one sentence.
All the choices look grammatically correct to me. (A) and (D) are the best ones, but (B) makes a slight change in the original meaning, so (A) the original sentence is the best one.

A. that will be easily searchable starting late next year

Clear and concise

B. that might be easily searched from starting later next year

grammatically correct, but changes the meaning in its use of might. "form" seems to be redundant and can be dropped.

C. that will be searched easily starting late next year

Clear and concise but a subtle change in meaning. In fact (A) and (C) are very close answer choices; GMAT will not throw such close answer choices as this matter could be debatable.

D. and such data will be easily searchable, starting late next year

The original sentence says "website" will be searchable, but (D) says "such data"; not much difference, but still (A) express the thought clearly and concisely. The use of comma is inappropriate and changes the meaning drastically. The sentence will mean that the "posting of data" will take place starting next year, but the original sentence says that the "website" will be searchable "starting next year"

E. and such data would be easily searchable starting late next year

Same as above but this choice is better than (D)

Hope that helps,

Vercules

A. that will be easily searchable starting late next year

I just figured that was pointing towards the website being easily searchable and D made more sense in that it talked about the data being more searchable. D, however repeats such as more than once so that gave me a hard time picking between A and D. Thanks for pointing out this isn't a gmat question!

Hi Vercules,

I have a basic doubt. We know that the original question may be incorrect, why are we assuming that "Website" should be searchable and not the "payment data". To most of people, data suits "searchable" more than the website. Is there a fixed rule in such case that we should blindly take the base argument provided in the original question to be true? Because in this case, the original question portraits that we are looking into the website being searchable. So D&E are out of question right away.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

By POE I believe that most people will be left with A and D. I 100% agree with your explanation on why A is a better choice than D. Kudos to you because you saved me from having to write an explanation.

I am still not clear on option A. Isn't it the data that should be searched ? But option A implies website needs to searched ? I marked option D and got it wrong ....

I think I was trapped by whether data or web is searchable . They are actually the same thing.
This problem test the subject of start, which is " post"

This reminds me to look at the SVO structure of each verb.... every verb!

Can someone explain why not E, please? Is the usage of "would" incorrect?

Yes and the typical action plus "ing" modifier, this is a standard question format in the GMAT, plus "would" is inconsistent with the previous "Will".

Hope it helps

Why are the explanations mentioning A as correct while the answer log mentions D
