Re: Haas (UC Berkeley) EWMBA 2013 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
Congrats to all who got in and good luck to all other aspirants.
I applied in R3 and got an on campus interview invite with adcom. Do you guys think it a good idea to connect with the interviewer (before the interview) through social networking sites? Will it backfire?
I already did a class visit. Is it worth visiting the campus again for another class visit/information session? Any tips for interview would be great.

Yes, that will backfire.

If you have any questions for them, attend another information session. I went to one the day after I applied to ask about the interview, which was helpful. Otherwise, you're not going to gain much.

For interview tips, look back at this thread around December. Most of the questions you'll be asked are in there.

I'd also take the Anderson admit. They're both top 20 schools and both have more opportunities than you'll be able to take advantage of.

I thought Haas was top 10 (more like 7)?

Haas tends to come in around #7, Anderson somewhere around #13. I just mean they're both in the top 20 business schools in the country. Realistically, there's not going to be a gigantic difference in career opportunities between both schools. People like to make a huge deal out of the difference between say Harvard and Duke, but realistically it's mostly what you do with it and less about the pedigree. Unless you're going in to banking or management consulting, there realistically is zero difference to your career as long as they're both good schools.

Hell, have you ever seen the CNBC show about behind the scenes at HBS? I think it's on Netflix now if you haven't. I looked up the two people the show followed. They're both in generic middle management positions.

If you got in to Anderson and not Haas, go to Anderson. If you didn't want to go to Anderson, why did you apply (pharaohs80, not riskall)? If the tables were turned and it was me, I'd be signed up for Anderson at the moment.

I see my name but no idea what you are talking abt dude.

It's a lot less impressive than you're thinking. He has a light sport aircraft. It's basically a honda civic with wings. He also doesn't have an apartment/house. So, it's a lot easier to afford expensive toys when you don't have any living expenses.

i've literally seen honda civics with wings in the rougher neighborhoods. they don't fly though.

The good news is you can finish in 5 semesters if you take 6 units during the two summer sessions :)

Unfortunately it's a bit more than 100k (probably be closer to 115-120k by the time you graduate) :( Hopefully you have some tuition reimbursement or get one of the few available scholarships!

Good luck to everyone who is waiting for the decisions to come out in May! Is anyone here from the lighting industry?

I applied in R3 and have been invited for an interview. Looks like it's going to be a great class for everyone who gets in.

For those waitlisted in R1 without an interview - did you get interview invites shortly thereafter? I guess I'm curious how often waitlisters are eventually rejected sans interview.
