Since I can't make it to Pre-view weekend, I decided to visit Stern. Wow, what an amazing place. Sat in on Demodaran's Valuation class and was blown away. His ability to break down complicated concepts such as valuing a Global Bank or a multi-national Commodity firm was breath taking. I set up coffee chats with several students and felt at home.

I think my decision is made.

So has anyone started looking into places to live for next year? My first inclination is the Lower East Side, but I've also heard Murray Hill, Soho, Union Square, or perhaps Brooklyn as options. Would be curious to get some feedback from any NYers or others more familiar with the area...

There was a tread about this on the FB website. I live in ft greene and it takes me 15 minutes to get to Stern door to door. From my pov students live pretty spread out but are mostly in lower Manhattan. What's important is to live either in walking distance or near the A/B/C/D/F/Q/4/5 trains. I would also stay out of Williamsburg, the L train is the WORSE.

Hey, for those of you attending the Stern Preview, do any of you know if there's one night that's preferable to go to? Unfortunately, it's the same time as Northwestern's admit weekend, and I'm trying to decide how to plan things out. There's no full agenda available on the Stern site yet, but I was wondering if maybe some of you had inside information (or experience with previous Stern Preview weekends).

Did you have to separately apply for scholarship or were you just selected based on your merits??
I am hoping I receive good news with some $$ :)

How long does it take since the interview to get the decision? I screwed up my interview and since the day of the interview I have been checking my status every other minute

I disagree on the L train point! I love the L train... but steer clear of the G. I live in Williamsburg. Would love to stay in the area for school but there really aren't any good steals (rent-wise). Anyone, feel free to PM me about apartment hunting. I've lived in Murray Hill/Kips Bay, East Village/Union Square, Greenpoint and Williamsburg.
