You're welcome.
1. It will be a factor, but you need to tell them you were ill. Given the other excellent academic stats, I think you have reason for optimism. If they like the rest of your app, they have good reason to overlook the grad GPA.
2. That somewhat depends on how you present it, but yes, the material is there to differentiate you from that classic Indian IT guy.
