Your hard stats are pretty damn impressive, not only that but you tick all the boxes in the extra-curricular (with awards!), intl. exp and so on - so i can see why they're trying to get you in early :)

I got my pre-invitation letter as well yesterday :-D

Male, 32, 7 years of workex, from Scandinavia. Background as engineer in computer science with ok-ish grades (somewhere around top 25%) from the top technical university here. Currently working as project manager leading around 60 people.

I also spent a lot of time on the essays, both figuring out what to write and how to write it. I didn't use a consultant, but my wife was invaluable in giving me feedback.

Here's my answer to the questions posted here and asked in private:

Profile
GMAT — 760
GPA — 3.9 (M.A.) 3.8 (B.A.)
WE — 3 yrs, marketing, renewable energy, promoted twice
Int'l Experience — North & South America, Asia, Europe
Hobbies — many & varied, with many awards

Essays
Rumor has it that for INSEAD, essays carry more weight than the hard facts in one's CV. So I spent a whole month writing & rewriting them.
I stuck to the word limit. I believe this shows respect for the AdCom as well as one's ability to express complicated ideas concisely.
I hired a consultant to help polish my language & tighten my structure, but only at the very end of my writing process.
I took the optional essay equally seriously, using it to demonstrate a shining point that did not fit elsewhere.

Recommendation
I did not have an alumnus as third recommender.
Both recommendations are from my current employer.

School Selection
INSEAD is the only program I applied to.




760 GMAT got their attention, the rest is a deal closer. Very impressive. Thanks for sharing. What nationality are you ?

One of my friends from round 3 September 13 had mailed her recently and she then got an automated reply saying out of office till 13th May.

I took GRE back in 2010. Applying with that score now. I scored 1420 which is average score so thats fine.

Rumor has it that schools are more lenient with the GRE because it doesn't affect their ranking.

haha. Do they seriously care that much ? Isint the placements enough to justify their ranking. Anyways I believe GRE is much much more time consuming than GMAT.

$50 says that out of office was meant for us.
