Book publishing executive: I am becoming increasingly convinced that the interaction between book sales and
literary quality is not a simple one. For example, I now believe that no number one best seller will win the major
literary prizes. But I also believe that all major literary prize winners will have unusually high long-term sales.
If the beliefs that the book publishing executive claims to hold are true, which of the following must also be true
on the basis of them?
A. No books with unusually high long-term sales are number one best sellers.
B. At least some number one best sellers are not books with unusually high long-term sales.
C. All books with unusually high long-term sales are number one best sellers.
D. At least some books with unusually high long-term sales are not number one best sellers.
E. No number one best sellers have unusually high long-term sales.

this is dozy of problem. LSAT huh?
IMO D not B. What does the answer guide say?
2 main fact needs to be considered.
NO no1 best sellers (no1 BS) will win literary prizes (LP) i.e if the book won LP then this books cannot be no1 BS
ALL major literary prize winners will have unusually high long-term sales. i.e. if he has won LP then we for sure know it will have unusually long term sale.
In simpler terms No X are Y and All X and Z
A. No books with unusually high long-term sales are number one best sellers.
this need not be true all the time; there can be books with unusually high long-term sales and can be also No1 B. At least some number one best sellers are not books with unusually high long-term sales.
This need not be true because there ALL NO1 books can have long-term sales - its just that LP winner cannot be NO1C. All books with unusually high long-term sales are number one best sellers.
ALL itself is very extreme word. This cannot be true we know that if the Book has won LP then it cannot be no1D. At least some books with unusually high long-term sales are not number one best sellers.
this must be true because from the question we know that books that have won LP (i.e. some books) cannot be NO1 (and books with LP must have long term sales) so this can be safely inferred. E. No number one best sellers have unusually high long-term sales.
This need no be true all the time as there can be books that are NO1, that also has not won LP, can have long term sales.
Edited to correct a typo!
