MGMAT CAT vs the real exam 690

I thought Kaplan was known to have a track of such huge differences in Mock Tests vs The real thing.

MGMAT used to be fairly more accurate I guess. However, thanks for sharing your experience

Before I took the gmat I did a google search to see how accurate the mgmat cats are, and didn't find any good results. So I'm going to share my own experience.

My MGMAT CAT scores were the following:

q42 v26 570
q31 v31 520
q45 v34 650
q36 v32 570
q28 v32 510
q40 v33 600

My GMAT Score
q48 v37 690

As you can see I didn't score very well on these mgmat cats, and did much better on the gmat. My advice for those who score poorly on the mgmat cats is to not worry too much as I found the math portion of the gmat to be much easier than mgmat. Verbal part was about the same as mgmat. A couple more tips that worked for me: drink gatorade (need that sugar) and don't study the day before to let your brain rest.

I had a similar experience with MGMAT lowballing me. I took all 6 MGMAT CATs twice each and only twice did I score above 700 and even those were semi-illegitimate b/c by then I was starting to recognize old questions. Actual test: 720, and I felt that was low. For me I thought the MGMAT Quant was much harder than the real thing, but I didn't do that well on the quant (47) so I probably didn't really see the hardest of quant questions on test day.

To wrap this up... after scoring between 670 and 690 in Manhattan review (as mentioned above), I scored 740 on Kaplan and 740 in the OG Practice Test.

Hence I was pretty confident. On the test day however, I had a really bad day and totally lost my concentration towards the end. I scored a 680 but the problem was not the Quant as I was always told by MGMAT (Q:49, V:34). So the Quant part was much more accurately predicted by Kaplan than by MGMAT.

I studied some verbal, which I hadn't done so far. Did one more Kaplan practice test before the second try and scored 750.

Ended up getting a 760 (q 50, v44), so I can definitely say that the Kaplan tests are pretty accurate at the moment. While my MGMAT practice test before the second exam said 700.

Yeah Mgmat has screwed there scoring algorithm after 29Aug...
