Re: Elite Cluster List [#permalink]
Hi Hjort,

Do you know of the best B Scools for Luxury Brand Mgt.? (U.S or E.U)

I know of ESSEC in Paris, which offers an MBA in Luxury Brand Mgt. Otherwise i thought of choosing B.Schools based on recruiters (LVMH, Hermes and the likes).

I could find suitable recruiters in schools like INSEAD, NYU Stern, Columbia and a few more.
Also i will give my GMAT next month and currently have 2 yrs w.e and gpa - 2.
Im aiming for atleast a 720 on GMAT.

It would really help if you could tell me if i stand a chance in the above schools with the above profile + any info on any other schools for Luxury Brand Mgt.

Thanks!

Re: Elite Cluster List [#permalink]
Is there a list somewhere of what each school is known for?

For example, Wharton is for Finance. What about the other top schools, what are they known for in terms of specialization and also the recruiters, for example for marketing, international business, etc?

Thanks.

Hi everyone, I know these discussions about ranking schools can get pretty heated but I wanted to share how one of the MBB firms categorizes the top US MBA programs into "elite" versus "highly selective" for the purpose of resume scoring. It's interesting to see the perspective from a major recruiter.

As for my source, I just left one of the MBB firms and I was very involved in recruiting (resume scoring and on-campus interviewing)

"Elite"
Booth/U. of Chicago
Columbia U.
HBS/Harvard U.
Fuqua/Duke U.
Kellogg/Northwestern U.
Sloan/Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
Stanford U.
Wharton/U. of Pennsylvania

"Highly selective"
Anderson/U. of California, LA
Darden/U. of Virginia
Goizueta U.
Haas/U. of California, Berkeley
Johnson/Cornell U.
Kenan-Flagler/U. of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
Marshall/U. of Southern California
McCombs/U. of Texas, Austin
Olin/Washington U. in St. Louis
Ross/U. of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Stern/New York U.
Tepper/Carnegie Mellon U.
Tuck/Dartmouth College
Yale U.

**Btw, these are all in alphabetical order

So based on your ranking, going to Ross or Anderson will yield the same results in terms of job placement? Thanks.

In no particular order within the cluster . . .

NYU
Michigan
Cornell
UCLA
Duke
UC Berkeley
Yale
Dartmouth
Virginia (Darden)

Since there are 9 schools in this cluster, the two top clusters include 16 schools in total.

Could one the experts/CEO/bb/Principle Moderator authorized by GMAT Club validate this list? This was last updated in 2005, shouldn't a new post or revised list should be posted here every 6-8months?

Hi All,

I am currently in my application stage for some top school's in US and Singapore. I came across an interesting resourse which might be helpful to you all during your admissions process and school selection. This https://www.mentmo.com . Started by ex mackinsey guys , this is an initiative to link prospective students to current students/alumni of your target school. They arrange one on one mentoring sessions with current students through skype and you can get all your application realated doubts sorted driectly from someone who has been throug the process himself and might even be your future college senior when you get admitted. I have myself spoken to ross and darden students on my appliacation realted queries.

Hoep this is helpful to you all !
