Which of the following points falls outside of the region defined by 2y≤6x−12?

A. (5, 1)
B. (3, -8)
C. (2, 0)
D. (1, -2)
E. (0, -14)

Equation given is 2y<=6x-12
Simplifying this; y<=3x-6
Plug in the values provided in the options,

A. 1<=11
B. -8<=3
C. 0<=0
D. -2<=-3
E. -14<=-12

Option D is the answer.

This question is simply saying which coordinate pair does not satisfy the equation- just plug in the answer choices

Thus

"D"

this question can be easily solved by simplifying the equation to 3x-y >= 6. only option D does not satisfy the equation. hence answer is D

no need of plotting any graph.simple put down options in question and check if condition still holds true..

Option D.

If a point falls outside the region defined by 2y ≤ 6x − 12, its coordinates will NOT satisfy the inequality. So let’s check each given choice until we find the correct answer.

A. (5, 1)

2(1) ≤ 6(5) − 12 ?

2 ≤ 18 ? → Yes

B. (3, -8)

2(-8) ≤ 6(3) − 12 ?

-16 ≤ 6 ? → Yes

C. (2, 0)

2(0) ≤ 6(2) − 12 ?

0 ≤ 0 ? → Yes

D. (1, -2)

2(-2) ≤ 6(1) − 12 ?

-4 ≤ -6 ? → No

Answer: D
