Oh dear. Long time lurker and I was hoping my first post would be able my big success after my test tomorrow morning! But here I am, less than 12 hours away and my confidence is wavering. Earlier this evening I was working, and through a very odd set of circumstances, ended up with second degree burns on my right hand. The burns are very fresh and I'm frankly not sure how much worse it will get, but it is already nearly impossible for my to move my right index finger because of the blistering.
This is a very odd question, but has anyone had to take the test one-handed before? I'm mostly worried about my typing abilities being limited for the essay portion, and being slow/painful to click through the questions. Also, I'm worried the pain and anxiety has just totally thrown my mojo off. I've already had to postpone the exam once thanks to the timing of hurricane Irma and I cannot handle another setback/reschedule!
Any words of wisdom or comfort would be much appreciated.
You won't be able to cancel the test now, so that's not an option. If I were you, I'd just go ahead and take the test if there were no medical reasons not to (maybe you've been advised to rest your hand). Check how much it hurts, whether you normally write with your right or left hand, and if there is a medical facility nearby. In any case, ensure that you let the people at the center know.
Again, if I were you, I'd be ready to take the exam a second time. Don't look at it as a setback: some test takers actually book two appointments so that they can get a little bit of familiarity with the test before their "real" attempt.
