Hi All,

I tried to find this question using search but could not find it. Hope you can help me with this! I hope I posted this in the right place.
I am new! So still trying to figure this out:

My question is from MGMAT, FDP guide, FDP strategy section, Problem set, Question 4:

11/30 of 6/20 of 120? (you need to use benchmarks)

> What I did was, 1/3 times 3/10 times 120, cancel zero's to make 1/3 x 3/1 x 12 to make 12?

[1][/3] X [3][/10] X 120, Cancel zero's to make [1][/3] x [3][/1] x 12 = 12?

However the book chose another path and ends up with 13.3. What am I doing wrong??

\(\frac{11}{30} * \frac{6}{20} *120=(\frac{11}{30} *120)* \frac{6}{20}=\)

\((11*4)*\frac{3}{10}=\frac{132}{10}=13.2\)

11/30 doesn't equal 1/3. 10/30 is 1/3. :)

For the below question I am getting a different answer: Please can you correct me what i am doing wrong?

1/30 of 6/20 of 120?

=66/5.

You are getting the same answer, it only looks different: 66/5 = 132/10 = 13.2
