Which of the following expresses 25% less than 300% of x, if x is a positive number?

A. 3.25x
B. 3.75x
C. 2.75x
D. 2.25x
E. 0.05x

What is wrong about my approach please?

300%= \(\frac{400}{100}\). So 300% of x = 4x.

\(\frac{400}{100}\)x * \(\frac{3}{4}\) = \(\frac{1200}{400}\)x = 3x

Alternate method : By Plugging in some number

Let X = 100 , So, 300% of 100 = 300

Now, 25% less than 300% of x = 75% of 300 => 225 , Thus, answer must be (D)

Note :

300 % = 300 / 100. but you wrote 400 / 100. Thus you got the wrong answer. Rest of the things are fine.
