(1) Gas station Y is 5 miles from gas station Z.

(2) Gas station X is 3 miles from gas station Y.

the alignment of the gas stations is unknown but we know from (1) y to z = 5 insufficient and (2) x to y = 3

combining we have x to y and y to z distance

despite the arrangement not known we can find a unique value

(C) imo

Hi Hatakekakashi

I think you missed that there are 2 cases. Pls review my solution above.

IMO E this question can be easy if we make a number line
A is insufficient as no information about X
B is insufficient as no information about z
C Insufficient as if X is in middle then total distance will be 5 and if Y is in middle the total distance is 8
