Hello all,
I am going to detail my GMAT chronicles in an attempt to seek out new advice to remedy my situation.
My goal is to achieve of a score of 680+ and get into a top bschool program. I have been studying on and off for the past 3 years and taken the GMAT 4 times with minimal success. i first went through Kaplan's prep which was in classroom and online courses. When Kaplan failed me I then tried Veritas prep which consisted of online courses and quzzes. After 2 more dismal scores i then tried
manhattan prep's CAT exams only and studied the solutions meticulously. Here are my 4 recoreded scores,
(Total-P, Verb-P, Quant-P, AWA-P, IR-P)
a. Jan 2015: 550-45%, 27-47%, 38-36%, 5.5-80%, 2-12%
b. Dec 2016: 550-45%, 27-46%, 38-41%, 6.0-95%, 8-97%
c. Mar 2017: 560-44%, 25-40%, 42-45%, 6.0-89%, 4-40%
d. Apr 2018: 560-44%, 27-47%, 41-43%, 5.5-80%, 2-12%
My unofficial practice tests have ranged drastically from a 460 to a 690. I have scored as high as 50 on the Quant and 40 on the verbal, but for whatever reason I can’t execute when it comes time to taking the actual GMAT. I tend to start out each section very strong but am unable to maintain my score once i get about halfway through the exam. i believe my biggest weakness is a sound understanding of the fundamentals. I can solve questions in the 99th percentile if i understand the material but fail questions in the 40th percentile because i didn't know the correct way to setup the problem.
I do not know what exactly I am doing wrong with my prep, but I realize that I am doing something wrong and cannot solve this on my own. I am optimistic about trying a new approach and enthusiastic about improving my official score.
I will take the GMAT again in 6 months and any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
