Note : 0.75 / mile. Total earning = 18 $

Let the number of miles be x.

0.75x = 18

x = 18/ 0.75

x = 18 / (75/100)

x = 18* (4/3)

x = 24.

The best answer is E.

\(= \frac{18.00}{0.75}\)

\(= \frac{1800}{75}\)

\(= 24\), Answer must be (E)

Marie earned $0.75 for every 1 mile.

Her total earning - $18

Hence, the miles she walked = 18/0.75 = 18*100/75 = 24 miles


Answer E.

Marie walked a total of 18/(0.75) = 24 miles.

Alternate Solution:

We are given that Marie earns $0.75 PER MILE. Since rate x miles = total dollars, we can create the following equation to determine the number of miles walked.

0.75 x miles = 18

miles = 18/0.75

miles = 18/(3/4)

miles = 18 x 4/3 = 24

Answer: E
