Hi!
I applied to MIT Sloan last year, for fall 2018 admissions and I did not get in. I am planning on reapplying in R1 for the fall of 2019, and looking for some advice on my reapplication strategy.
About me: 26 yearold, female.
Undergrad GPA: 3.85 (math and psychology major)
Gmat: 740
Work in marketing at a large technology company (IBM). I have been here for 3.5 years, and received two promotions.
I also work as marketing director of a streetfood startup (part time).
Since I last applied, I did not receive any promotions at work, but I did expand my role and responsibility. I took a MOOC course through Coursera on Entrepreneurship, and joined the board of a non-profit organization. I also continued my role as marketing director of a streetfood startup.
I am looking for advice on who I should get recommendations from -- I need two! --- options:
1. My current supervisor at IBM (who provided my recomenndation last year, but could speak to new projects I am working on)
2. My department director - I haven't worked very closely with him, but he can speak to some of the impact of my projects, and is a VP at my company
3. My past supervisor at my current company (she was my supervisor 2 years ago, and would write an amazing recommendation, but it would be of things I was doing 2 years ago)
4. The founder of the streetfood startup (he wrote my recommendation last year, and honestly my role there has not changed greatly)
5. The director of the non-profit board I joined. Although I only joined a few months ago,, I have done a lot there.
Can you help me decide what I should stress out of everything above, in my video and cover letter? Should I focus on attributes of my personality that I did not mention before in my application last year, or more about what I have been up to in the last year, should I mentioned the online Entrepreneuship course?
