D has a pronoun error. "They" refers to the "restaurant". It's wrong, because "restaurant" is singular; "they" should be "it" instead.

The version created via the use of D starts off with a meaning issue, as the use of “with” results in this version’s conveying a vague and somewhat illogical meaning. In what sense exactly are “they” “with” the investment in the juice press?

Also, “they” has no clear referent. While one might reasonably assume that “they” refers to people who own or work at the restaurant, the sentence is not effective, because it leaves the reader wondering who exactly “they” are.

Also, notice that, when this choice is combined with the non-underlined portion, the wording that results is “they sell much more, alone and as ingredients …” What they sell much more of is not made clear, and the sentence could be interpreted as conveying that “they” sell, alone or as ingredients, in other words, that whoever is selling acts as ingredients.
