In what ratio does the point (-2,-5) divide the segment AB where A is (2,3) and B is (-1,-3)?

A. 1:4 externally
B. 1:4 internally
C. 4:1 externally
D. 4:1 internally
E. None of these

First, plot the points on the co-ordinate axis.

We can see that (-2, -5) divides AB externally. Also, A is much farther off than B.
So of the given options, the only feasible option is (C)

Note that "None of these" is not an option on GMAT so you will be given 5 defined options.
