Hi All,
This isn't a 420 to 700 debrief post yet
(oh dear, I will reach there some day - just not happened yet); its about the mistakes I did before the 2nd attempt at GMAT.
These mistakes are not about the concept and last minute revision tactics; its about the MINDSET. Since this was the 2nd attempt of mine - I had taken too much pressure right before a week of the GMAT test (reason being my mock scores had reduced a 100 points out of nowhere & the problem - I actually got discouraged
, discouraged to a level that I started negative thinking including whatever happens on the exam day its just bad luck, god knows what's my level of understanding questions, etc.
The overthinking also took a tool on my health; I had
persistent headaches for 3 consecutive days before the last week of the exam and when that problem was solved; I got feverish - & this is ALL BECAUSE OF OVERTHINKING. What did I get in return of this overthinking? - bad health which did not let me study for a week. So do not get too involved in thinking what happens if / that/... just focus on present and do your bit.
GMAT Exam is not a knowledge based or a memory based exam; its more of a application based exam (& everybody knows this) - so if your mindset before the exam is all nervy and negative - sorry - but this is not going to help you. If you feel I will get a score which is a 70+ (of the average of my last 3 mocks) - again sorry - too much of positive thinking.
Be realistic, but also be hungry. I am not giving up on this GMAT journey yet - Fingers crossed.
WHAT TO DO 2-3 DAYS BEFORE THE EXAM:
1. Stop Giving mocks
2. Stop solving NEW questions
3. Don't stress out; infact relax a bit
4. Solve fewer (revisiting old) questions; or it is OKAY if you just don't solve - just try and revisit the theory and formulae if that helps.
5. Do complete your entire quote of sleep (whatever it is 6 hours/ 7 hours or more) before the exam day.
