Hi wildcard888,

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. First off, it’s important to understand that raising your score by 380 points will take a lot of time and effort. Certainly, you can make such an improvement, but you need to ensure that your GMAT prep is one of your top priorities over the next 4 months.

Regarding prep courses, in addition to seeking advice in this thread, take a look at the GMAT Club reviews for the best quant and verbal courses, and also read through some GMAT success stories to see what materials have worked well for other test-takers.

Lastly, you may find it helpful to read this article about
how to score a 700+ on the GMAT.

Good luck!

For a certain master's programme where the average GMAT score of the applicants is 730 I would like to know how to reach this score? I need to take the test until the end of March, so I have 4 months to go. But I have exams at university soon, so I would not have time to prepare fulltime but mostly at the weekends. I did a mock test and scored 350. It was my very first attempt.
I now would like to know from you if you know an online course where I learn the basics for the GMAT and then improve significantly during those 4 months? Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and support!

You should better focus on a solid study plan with sound strategy. Here is a study plan for you

Best Books

For Concept Learning

Manhattan Quant Guides
Manhattan Verbal Guides
For CR: The Powerscore GMAT Critical Reasoning Bible
For RC: Aristotle RC Grail

For Practice

The Official Guide for GMAT 2015-19
The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review 2015-19
The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review 2015-19

Best Courses (Budget)

1. e-GMAT
2. Empower GMAT
3. Math Revolution (Only Math)

You can start with Quant or Verbal which suits you. If you have started with Quant then Start with the Arithmetic but if started with verbal then start first with Sentence correction. One month for learning Quant concepts and one month for practicing question and same practice for Verbal. During you Practicing question don't forget to make an error log to track your weak areas after practice. Once you know your weak areas revise your Concepts related to those areas and do some more Practice. 6-8 CATs are enough for practice the real tests. Make your Stamina for sitting 3 hours in the test and don't study more than 2 hours in one sit and 4 hours per day

Top CATs for Practice

1. Official GMAC CATs
2. Manhattan CATs
3. Kaplan CATs
4. GMAT Club Quant CATs

Hi, wildcard888

Welcome to the gmat club. It would be much easier for me to give you advice if I know your verbal and quant score each. As I see your test score, solidifying the base for quant and verbal is needed. However, working on just during the weekend is not enough to improve your score dramatically. Quant alone, you should spend 2-3 hours everyday for at least 3 months to get 49 to 50 (considering that getting a good quant score is really important for hitting the score 730) So, after your university exam, you should focus on GMAT studying.

As our company is specialized in Quant, I want to give you advice about quant. Most of the companies have their Math Review course, which teaches you basic concepts of Quant. If your quant score is under 34, taking math review course is necessary. The way teaching basics (arithmetic, algebra, geometry and word problem) and skills are different by companies and you should choose one that takes your fancy. Math revolution’s online courses and teaching styles are a bit different and unique. We developed our own approach for both DS and PS. ‘IVY approach’ for PS and ‘Variable approach’ for DS guarantee high accuracy and quick solving. Most of our students have 10 minutes to spare on the real test. We apply ’variables–equations matching system’ to the DS questions, which is counting the number of variables and equations given in the question. By doing so, you can determine which answer choice will most likely be the answer. Then, you can apply our ‘IVY approach’ to PS type questions. Our IVY approach for PS can give you lots of tips and techniques to find the answer quickly and easily. You can quickly solve the questions and have 10 minutes to spare. (More information about our approach: https://www.mathrevolution.com/gmat/vs)

We also offer OG2015, OG2016, OG2017 course, where you can learn our unique solution for all the official guide questions, which is accurate and time efficient,
