Re: GMAT- Quant and verbal - Full time study possible- Kindly advise :) [#permalink]
[quote="EMPOWERgmatRichC"]Hi aniriddha,

From your post, it's not clear whether you're just (re)beginning your studies or you've been studying for some time. If you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at https://www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) Have you decided which Schools you plan to apply to? Since you clearly want to apply relatively soon, the more specific you can be about your plans, the easier it should be to properly put together an effective application strategy.
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Hi Rich,
Thanks for the reply. I havent started yet.
Target schools would be M7 ( Incase US eases norms for Indian students) or UK ( Cambridge/LBS) /France.

I was confused by the number of prep courses and material available . I can study for around 40-50 hours every week as such.Looking forward to your inputs.
Warm regards

Good luck!

Hi Aniriddha,

Until we have a sense of your current skills, we won't have any idea how long it might take you to hit your Score Goal. For reference though, many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so that might help you to set your own expectations for what this process might involve. As such, I suggest that you take a practice CAT Test as described: you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here - or you can feel free to contact me directly - and we can come up with a study plan.
