Hi Experts,

I took the GMAT test last Saturday and scored 640 (Q51 V25 IR7).
The details for the V part are as below,
CR:39% (Analysis/Critique:100%,Construction/Plan: 25%)
SC:46% (Grammar: 60%,Communication: 85%)
RC:35% (Inferred Idea:75%, Stated Idea:50%)

My expectation is over 720.

It will be very helpful if you can provide any advice for me.

Thank you!

Hi jackalwxy,

Welcome to GMATCLUB! I think you need to solidify your base in Verbal since your accuracy is weak in all three areas . To improve your scores in verbal , you can consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market. You can easily track your progress in that you can identify your strengths and analyze and improve on your weak areas.

Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

I would also encourage you to purchase the GMATPREP QP 1 for some great additional practice. Further you should also consider LSAT Questions for some great CR and RC practice.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Can you share how you came up with the 720 expectation?

Congratulations on the perfect Quant score! Getting Q51 is incredibly difficult.

Your Verbal score has a lot of room to improve. Can you share your background in the English language? How often do you read English materials and what topics do you typically read?

If I had to guess, I would say your Verbal fundamentals are weak. I would start by reading dense English materials to improve your general reading comprehension skills before studying GMAT-specific topics. Feel free to read my FB post here: https://www.facebook.com/HanoiGMATtutor/ ... 6066656482
