(1) The slope of the line is 1/2, and the line passes through the origin (0, 0)

This tells us that the line passes through the origin and its x coordinates increase by 2 units for every 1 unit increase in y coordinate. So the line passes through (0+2,0+1) or (2,1) and therefore does not pass through (1,2)

1 is sufficient

(2) The equation of the line is y = x/2
If we substitute (1,2) in the equation, we see that it does not hold true (we get 2=1/2) so the line does not pass through (1,2)

2 is sufficient

Answer is (D)
