Re: A publisher is now providing university professors with the option of [#permalink]
If professor of each university edits the chapters according to his need then students nationwide will not be uniformly exposed to abasic set of readings. Hence C is the best choice

The widespread use of the option mentioned above is LEAST likely to contribute to fulfilling which of the following educational objectives?

(A) Coverage of material relevant to a particular student body’s specific needs
(B) Offering advanced elective courses that pursue in-depth investigation of 0selected topics in a field
(C) Ensuring that students nationwide engaged in a specific course of study are uniformly exposed to a basic set of readings
(D) Making the textbooks used in university courses more satisfactory from the individual teacher’s point of view
(E) Keeping students’ interest in a course by offering lively, well-written reading assignments

C.
This is a kind of question that you need to focus to find THAT 1 choice, not 4 other choices. Otherwise you will get confused.

I would go with C since it is the only one who is not supporting this idea.

Agree C. Because the professional can edit the text book, so students nationwide will not be uniformly exposed to abasic set of readings

agree with C. if professors alter the text books for their courses, students nationwide will have different reading material in each professor's course.

Re: A publisher is now providing university professors with the option of [#permalink]
This is a bit of a weird question
Publisher is providing professors with option of ordering custom textbooks, allowing professors to edit out chapters they are not interested in and add material of their own choosing.

The widespread use of the option mentioned above is LEAST likely to contribute to fulfilling which of the following educational objectives?

The option above is premised around making the book more niche/ specialised, so anything that deviates from this eg. making something more generalised would least likely use this option.
A, B, D and to a lesser extent E are all specialised.
C is "nationwide" and If ONE teacher changes the content of the book such that his students interpretation is different from a neighbouring school's then this would run counter to the goal of ensuring uniform exposure.

The widespread use of the option mentioned above is LEAST likely to contribute to fulfilling which of the following educational objectives?

You can split the meaning into parts:

The widespread use of the option mentioned above is LEAST likely to contribute to fulfilling which of the following educational objectives?
>>The widespread use of the option mentioned above is LEAST likely to contribute to fulfilling which of the following educational objectives?
So 4 options would strengthen or irrelevant
one option would weaken the proposal.

Every time i read the option, I remembered is it Strengthening, weakening or irrelevant?
here: C weakens
A,B and D strengthens
E is kind of irrelevant, I don't get much useful information from it.

Hence I chose C

Re: A publisher is now providing university professors with the option of [#permalink]
Underestimate the argument -
A publisher is now providing university professors with the option of ordering custom textbooks for their courses. - Fact
The professors can edit out those chapters of a book they are not interested in and add material of their own choosing. - Fact

Option Elimination - The widespread use of the option mentioned above is LEAST likely to contribute to fulfilling which of the following educational objectives?

(A) Coverage of material relevant to a particular student body’s specific needs - This aligns with the customization objective. That is not our answer.
(B) Offering advanced elective courses that pursue in-depth investigation of selected topics in a field - This aligns with the customization objective. That is not our answer.
(C) Ensuring that students nationwide engaged in a specific course of study are uniformly exposed to a basic set of readings - They can't get uniform if professors in different universities customize. Ok.
(D) Making the textbooks used in university courses more satisfactory from the individual teacher’s point of view - This aligns with the customization objective. That is not our answer.
(E) Keeping students’ interest in a course by offering lively, well-written reading assignments - This aligns with the customization objective. That is not our answer.
